Vina Darlene Collins departed this life on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 5:30 AM at Tulane University Hospital, New Orleans, LA. She was born the second of triplets on April 24, 1948 to the union of the late Rev. G.W. Roy and Alma Roy in Ferriday, LA.

Vina was called and baptized by the late Reverends E.B. Pettieway and G.W. Roy in May, 1955 at the young age of seven. The triplets were the only children baptized along with fourteen adults at the Mercy Seat Baptist Church.

She was united in holy matrimony on March 15, 1971 to the late Lylton Andrew Collins. To this marriage was added two wonderful sons, Tony and Darius.

Even though she traveled extensively with her husband Lylton, their membership remained at First Baptist Church as she grew as a faithful steward and Christian until her home going. Although her home was in New Orleans, she traveled back and forth to her church until her health failed and she could no longer make the journey. She then became affiliated with a church in New Orleans; yet she remained loyal to her home church, and in good standing.

Vina taught Special Education at Fourchette High School in Orleans Parish until she left due to Hurricane Katrina. Then she taught in Concordia Parish in Ferriday, LA. She taught there until she retired.

A gentle, caring, God fearing woman, she leaves to cherish her memory and rejoice in her home going a devoted family: Her two sons Lylton "Tony"Andrew Collins, II (Gabrielle) and Darius Andre Collins; Sister Peggy Moody (DeArtrous, Sr.); brother Harry C. Roy (Onedia); and grandchildren, nieces, nephew, and a host of other friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband, 1 brother, and 1 nephew.
